4 Tips To Keep Your Child Safe Online If Your Not Using Computer Filtering Software

Kids everywhere are surfing the net all the time.  Whether it be instant messaging, facebook, myspace or just looking at different websites.  This is where computer filtering software comes in.

Unsupervised children can lead to problems. There is a lack of supervision as to what the child is doing on the computer.Today a 4 year old knows how to surf the net.  The 3 year old may not be able to read, but the kid can look at pictures. Many of these images are what you do not want your child seeing. Many pictures are repulsive to adults.

There are many husband and wives that both are employed. They just can’t watch what their children are looking at online for every second of the day.  A good computer filtering software can act as a “surrogate” for the parents.

There are also some very sick people out there just waiting to prey on unsuspecting children.  They lurk in the chat rooms where kids and teenagers go.  It is so easy for an 8 year old to make a friend in a chat room and then want to meet that person.  It’s scary.  They won’t tell their parents because the person they made freinds with tells them not to.

Here are a few tips to keep your child safe beside using a software filtering program for computers.

Tell your child not to give out any personal information.

Make sure your childs profile gives no detail about them or where they live.  In fact, put a different place.

Tell your child while they are in a chat room to never go to a private chat room with anyone.

Sit down with your child and explain the dangers to them but scare them to the point where they are freaking out.

Monitor your children online. Keep them safe.  You would be surprised how much a childs mind can be altered by a click of the mouse button.
